

Cassius Harris and Kaizon Taylor combined for 368 yards and six touchdowns as Tazewell posted a 46-21 Southwest District football win over Virginia High at Bulldog Stadium.
Harris had 206 yards and four touchdowns on 14 carries, while Taylor had 79 yards on 17 carries. Taylor caught three passes for 83 yards as well. Carter Creasy added 52 yards on the ground and passed for 157 yards and a touchdown. Behind the offensive line of Caleb Bowman, Braylon Asbury, Nick Sizemore, Gabe Beavers, and Ricky Compton, Tazewell rolled up 499 yards in total offense, including 342 yards rushing.
The Bulldogs scored on their first possession of the game when Kaizon Taylor busted over the goal line from one-yard out for the touchdown. Creasy’s 67-yard pass completion to Taylor on a screen pass jump started the drive.
Tazewell added two more touchdowns on their next two drives. Logan McDonald caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Creasy and Taylor scored his second touchdown of the night from two-yards out.
Alijah Burks put the Bearcats from Virginia High on the board late in the second quarter when he took a direct snap from center and plunged into the end zone from one-yard out. The touchdown cut the Bulldogs lead to 14.
Fourteen seconds after the Bearcats first touchdown, the Bulldogs found the end zone again. Cassius Harris took a handoff from Creasy and raced 69-yards around the left end for Tazewell’s fourth touchdown of the night. Tazewell led 27-7 at halftime.
The Bulldogs took the opening drive of the second half 53 yards in 6 plays for a touchdown. The drive was capped off with a Cassius Harris 19-yard touchdown run. Zephyr Dagout added the extra-point and Tazewell extended their lead to 34-7.
After Tazewell added another touchdown in the third quarter on a four-yard run by Cassius Harris, Donnie Thomas would get the Bearcats back on the board with an 81-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Virginia High would make it fourteen straight points when Brody Jones connected with Dante Worley for a 26-yard touchdown. The touchdown and extra-point cut the Tazewell lead to 40-21.
After an unsuccessful onside kick attempt by the Bearcats, the Bulldogs capped off the night’s scoring when Harris scored his fourth touchdown of the night on a 37-yard quarterback keeper.
Virginia High had 204 yards total offense, 140 passing and 64 rushing. The Tazewell defense had two sacks, three tackles for losses and one interception. Brock Alley led the defense with one sack and two tackles for loss. Reece Mullins added a tackle for loss and a sack. Logan McDonald intercepted a Brody Jones pass in the fourth quarter to end the Bearcats last drive of the night.
Tazewell hosts Graham this Friday at 7pm at Bulldog Stadium.
